Many of our patients at Calabasas Med Spa schedule skin care appointments with added concerns about the laxity of their tissues in the face, neck, and décolletage (upper chest area). Depending on the level we see loose and softening skin, we may recommend they look to nonsurgical treatments as preventative care to make sure their skin improves and fends off these signs of aging. Surgical procedures including facelifts have and continue to be effective treatments for loose skin, but not everyone is a candidate or willing to go through such invasive procedures.
For patients with slight jowls and loose skin on their neck and face, arms or other body areas non-surgical skin tightening may be a great option. We bring our clients only the best skin tightening options to ease their stress, reduce their recovery time and maximize their aesthetic results. To produce the best results, we use three of the world’s top skin tightening devices that promote new collagen and elastin fibers to rebuild the skin’s youthful base and reduce further signs of aging.
Unless we find the Fountain of Youth, aging will continue to affect our skin and other tissues in our body. The focal point for most people, as they notice these signs is the loose skin that develops around the face, neck, and chest. These areas are constantly bombarded by UV rays and environmental pollution that speed the aging process of our skin.
Elastin and collagen fibers are located within the dermal layer, just beneath the epidermis; this is a thick layer of connective tissue that gives your skin its strength and firmness. Collagen and elastin start to break down over time, shrinking in size and eventually bunching up in the skin; this shrinking of collagen fibers translates into visible signs of aging including volume loss, crepey skin and wrinkles.
As a result of these changes, skin loses it’s once youthful radiance. We can’t control the inevitable, but we can control how fast it happens. At Calabasas Med Spa, we look to rejuvenate the skin at its base, with collagen restructuring which these nonsurgical treatments using theThermage FLX, Sciton SkinTyte and Ultherapy can provide.
With more than a million treatments performed, Thermage is the leader in skin tightening procedures, and the FLX is the newest innovation of this device. Thermage started the non-surgical tightening revolution over 10 years ago when it first introduced this technology.
Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to heat the dermis stimulating the new production of collagen and elastin and tightening existing collagen. Thermage FLX advances the science by using a sophisticated temperature monitoring system to maximize the results and safety of each pulse. Energy is applied using a laser-like device that is put directly on the skin. Each pulse of the device delivers a precise amount of energy to maximally tighten collagen while cooling and protecting the overlying dermis.
Use Thermage FLX to tighten skin on your face, neck, chest, arms, and knees. It can not only visibly tighten skin, but by giving you more collagen after each treatment, it slows the aging process. For younger patients who do not already have sagging skin, Thermage is a great way to keep the skin stronger and slow the onset of sagging and jowls.
One unique feature about Thermage is that it can be used to treat upper eyelids. By having a treatment tip small enough to fit in the upper eyelid space, Thermage FLX can be a great alternative to surgery. Thermage treatments are color blind, meaning they can be safely used on all skin tones without fear of discoloration.
Using broadband light and infrared technology, the Sciton SkinTyte II skin tightening device is one of the top collagen restructuring treatments. It penetrates deeply into the dermal layer with enough energy to produce effective results and save the epidermis from any damage from this heat energy. Sciton is a trusted base for cosmetic treatment devices, which are always backed by years of clinical treatments and confidence by many physicians and professionals in the field.
During your first treatment with the SkinTyte device, your provider will talk to you about the areas of improvement in the skin, so you know what to expect. Before treatment begins, a cooling gel is added to prevent any discomfort and to allow the broadband infrared light to move beyond the surface layer. A sapphire cooling screen is placed on the skin and heat energy is delivered through to the skin in a temperature controlled pattern. Infrared energy is one of the safest types of heat energy that doesn’t cause distress to the skin, but stimulates cells to produce new collagen and elastin.
The treatment tip of the SkinTyte device is much larger at a 15×15 mm space that reduces the amount of time needed for these treatments. We also offer spot treatments in the skin using a smaller extension of the device from 7mm up to 15mm, so it’s versatile for any loose skin concern in the face. Our patients usually require three to six treatments for improvement in their skin. Each treatment requires a month or so in between and results are seen to improve up to six months after skin tightening treatment is complete.
SkinType Benefits:
As an effective lifting option, we offer Ultherapy nonsurgical facelift system that utilizes ultrasound to lift and tighten sagging, loose skin. Ultrasound technology is a little different than other modalities because it can not only target the dermis but layers deeper to it as well. Ultrasound energy moves directly to the dermal layer, without having any effect on the epidermis at all. Unlike energy heated treatments, no cooling is required because the surface or the skin isn’t what’s treated or targeted to get to the deeper layers.
A thin layer of ultrasound gel is added to the surface of the skin just before application of the Ultherapy ultrasound device. We can use Ulthera to lift the brows, neck and jowls.
