Our Calabasas clients begin their skin care treatments using Botox Cosmetic and dermal fillers starting in their early twenties. These anti-aging injections are some of the most popular cosmetic treatments on the market today. In fact, over ten million anti-wrinkle injections were done in 2017 alone for both men and women. Contrary to popular belief, all anti-wrinkle injections are not necessarily injected into the muscle but can also work to fill in space, calling on regenerative collagen between the muscle and dermal layer. We offer our clients both options during their anti-aging cosmetic treatment consultations at Calabasas Med Spa for those that are not comfortable with muscle injections. However, these two injectables can be combined to access all the benefits they each have to offer.
In the last few years, the cosmetic industry introduced dermal fillers that are injected into the space between the muscle layer and dermal layer to reduce the appearance of folding in the skin. When our skin starts to shrink and volume loss dulls our best features, we find extra space left over from this volume loss that we can use to our benefit in anti-aging treatments. Dermal fillers work within this space using hyaluronic acids familiar to our body.
Dermal fillers create volume and replace volume that has been lost due to aging that leaves the skin with a deflated look. Where these dermal fillers are best used are in the cheeks, forehead, lips, smile lines, and chin areas. In addition to adding volume, dermal fillers are manipulated skillfully at Calabasas Med Spa to sculpt the face and add definition to the natural lines of your bone structure. Depending on where you would like to add volume and definition, some dermal fillers may fare better than others. This dermal filler works on upper lip lines, nasolabial folds, thin lips, Marionette lines that lengthen down through the chin, and cheeks to add volume. Restylane can last six months or up to a year from the time of injection.
If you’re looking to treat chin wrinkles, jowls, Marionette lines, upper and lower lips lines, this injectable is for you. Radiesse can last up to a year and is calcium-based which has a high affinity for collagen repair.
Sculptra is a lactic acid-based injection that lasts more than a two-year period which is a blessing for many patients that aren’t thrilled about bi-annual treatments. Sculptra excels at replacing volume in the cheeks and temples.
Juvederm is one of the most diverse fillers since it can smooth and retexture surface skin while it plumps thinning lips, fills folds, and contours the cheeks.
Voluma is an outstanding filler for lifting and contouring the cheeks and filling hollow temples. Because of the way it is manufactured, Voluma is able to lift impressively without looking or feeling fake. Results from Voluma can last more than one year.
Anti-wrinkle injections, like Botox, are made of specialized mild neurotoxins that are injected into the muscle so that they can disable contractions fueled by nerves impulses directed to that specific muscle. If the muscle is immobilized in these areas prone to wrinkling or folding, the skin relaxes and these wrinkles are offered time to smooth over. For people that struggle with lines and wrinkles around the forehead and eyes, these muscle relaxants offer the best results.
While these treatments are the original anti-aging injections, they maintain their viability and strength with proven results.
Botox lasts up to four months following treatment and is best known for glabellar injections to decrease frown lines using several injection points. However, Botox can also be used to improve crow’s feet and forehead lines, to soften pebbling of the chin, sharpen the jawline, improved down-turned corners of the mouth, and reduce Some patients prefer Dysport because it can provide a more natural result because of its feathering effect. Meaning, the edges of the area treated blend more seamlessly into the surrounding non-treated areas. The injection points using Dysport are the same as with Botox, and the areas that can be treated are the same. After your Dysport injection, results can be seen quicker than with Botox but may still require two to three days to start being seen. It may take two weeks to see the full effect that lasts up to four full months (120 days).. Depending on the exact technique your expert Botox injector uses, the injection time for Botox is around 10-15 minutes.
Jeuveau® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used in adults for a short period of time (temporary) to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).
Some patients prefer Dysport because it can provide a more natural result because of its feathering effect. Meaning, the edges of the area treated blend more seamlessly into the surrounding non-treated areas. The injection points using Dysport are the same as with Botox, and the areas that can be treated are the same. After your Dysport injection, results can be seen quicker than with Botox but may still require two to three days to start being seen. It may take two weeks to see the full effect that lasts up to four full months (120 days).
This anti-aging injection is said to be lighter than Botox since it contains fewer proteins than Dysport and Botox. We use Xeomin to treat the same areas as the other two, glabellar and forehead lines, crow’s feet, and more.
During your consultation, you and your adviser will talk about your skin’s condition and the expectations you have for results. Based on your age and how long you would like these treatments to last, they will recommend dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin). Not every option will work for you, but there are some that can benefit from combining dermal fillers and these anti-wrinkle injections.
